Flexenclosure receives order for new data centre
Flexenclosure has received a multi-million dollar order from Vodacom Mozambique for its modular and pre-fabricated data centre eCentre.
Vodacom has ordered an eCentre of 500sqm open floor space for its new primary switching centre to be deployed in the industrial zone of Tchumene in Matola, just outside the capital Maputo. The new data centre is expected to be installed early next year.
According to Flexenclosure, the new data centre will be used as Vodacom Mozambique’s primary national core network facility. The facility will consist of 12 eCentre modules, all manufactured and equipped at Flexenclosure’s factory in Sweden. The Matola data centre has been designed to house core, transmission, radio access and data network equipment for the company’s mobile network supporting up to five million subscribers. The power solution will be customised to take advantage of an existing gas pipeline approximately 100m away from the facility. Generating electricity using gas-powered generators on site will ensure a power supply that is clean and guaranteed, with the added benefit of an estimated 40 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions, states Flexenclosure.
