French invest in Finnish enzymes company

The French capital investment company Sofinnova Partners, Finnish Industry Investment and Finnvera announced in February that they will invest EUR 2.2 million in Metgen, a Finnish start-up company developing and producing industrial enzymes in the pulp and paper, biofuels, and waste water treatment industries.

The funds raised will accelerate MetGen’s commercial roll-out and development of new products. MetGen, which currently runs industrial trials with several European partners, will initially market its solutions in Europe in Scandinavia, Germany and France and in North America. According to Heli Ahlroos, Investment Manager from Finnish Industry Investment, “MetGen has significant potential to become a high-growth gazelle company. The company has a scalable business model and competitive technology with which it can offer versatile customer benefits in the global market.”
