GreenGo Energy supplies solar panels for IKEA
Danish energy company GreenGo Energy A/S has been appointed as supplier for delivery of a solar energy solution to IKEA in Denmark.
The IKEA warehouse in Aarhus is Scandinavia’s first IKEA warehouse with solar cells. The new warehouse of 31,530 m2 will have a large focus on sustainability and according to GreenGo Energy it will be one of the biggest solar power plants in the Nordic countries. The project is estimated to be completed by spring 2014. The establishment of the solar power plant will take place during the autumn of 2013.
CEO Karsten Nielsen from GreenGo commented on the IKEA deal:
“We are of course really glad to be given this pioneer project from IKEA in Scandinavia, and also particularly happy about the fact that IKEA clearly understood the values of the GreenGo concept. We will of course assure that IKEA gets a good experience throughout the duration of the project and afterwards receive the guaranteed results. IKEA shows the way for warehouses in Denmark with this pioneer project, so probably we will see this sector begin to move from now on.”
The 550 kW plant projected by GreenGo Energy will produce more than 500,000 kWh for IKEA’s own disposal. A total of 2 200 modules will be installed which will form a PV area of 3200 squaremeters. This corresponds to about 15% of the electricity consumption being delivered from its’ own building, a number that rises up to 50% during the summer.
