NCC constructs public transport hub in Bergen
NCC will construct the new Birkelandskrysset traffic hub in Bergen, Norway. The civil-engineering site will be a Green Construction Site, NCC’s proprietary environmental concept for construction and civil-engineering sites.
According to NCC, this concept means that NCC will place stringent environmental demands in many areas. The contract with the county traffic company, Bybanen Utbygging, comprising a new tramway bridge, pedestrian and bicycle roads, a public transport terminal and a parking garage, is valued at SEK 490 million.
“The tramway is a visionary public transport initiative in Bergen. We are delighted to be part of a major new project for a sustainable Bergen,” said District Manager Henning Simonsen at NCC Construction in Norway in a press release.
This is NCC’s seventh contract with Bybanen Utbygging. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2015. The order will be registered in the fourth quarter of NCC Construction Norway, announced NCC.
