Swedish companies on top 100 list

Four Swedish companies are on environmental organization Sustainia’s list of 100 most innovative green companies.

The international institute Sustainia, based in Denmark, recently announced its new sustainability guide, Sustainia 100. It uncovers how emerging economies are leapfrogging green innovation by deploying state-of-the-art solutions and technologies and identifies the 100 most impactful solutions in sustainability. According to Sustainia, the selection is made from a pool of 500+ evaluated projects and technologies from around the globe. Solutions are selected for their positive social, economic and environmental impact on local economies.

Out of the top 100 solutions, Sustainia announces that Asia deploys 43 and sub-Saharan Africa 23, while Kenya alone deploys 10 solutions. Among the 100 companies are also four Swedish companies: Solelia, Heliospectra, Climatewell and Parans Solar Lighting.

Solelia

Solelia develops solar canopy charging posts which provides up to 1,000 kWh of sun-generated electricity a year for each of two cars parked under it.

heliospectra

Heliospectra specializes in smart LED lighting systems for plant science and horticulture applications.

Climatewell webb

Climatewell installs energy efficient solar energy solutions that provide cooling and heating, plus heat tap water in commercial buildings.

All of the Sustainia solutions are nominated for the Sustainia Award. The selection jury is headed by Honorary Chair of Sustainia, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and also includes former Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland, EU Commissioner of Climate Action Connie Hedegaard and Chair of IPCC Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri. The winner of Sustainia Award is announced at a ceremony in Copenhagen, November 7th, 2013.
